Coronado, Panama 2022 Because of a twenty day protest blocking the PanAmerican highway (the only east-west road in Panama) we were a week late getting to Coronado. We had to piece together temporary places to stay for the first week or two. Our first two days were right on the beach with a wonderful view. We met the Carls on the walking trail around the perimeter of Parque Omar in Panama City. Since then they bought a house near Boquete and when we told them when we were going to try to get to Coronado, they said they were going to Panama City the same day and we could ride with them! That saved us a few hundred dollars in transportation costs. Our trip was delayed because of the twenty day protests that closed down the PanAmerican highway. But when we finally made it, we took them out to dinner in Coronado. This is where we lived most of our month in Coronado. There were four rental units. We lived in the nearest ‘casita’ for over two weeks. We lived in the one further back for about a week before that. Further back was a swimming pool. Charlotte out in the Pacific. This was our favorite beach. It was a somewhat protected cove where the waves were not so intense. At low tide there was a nice beach. At high tide, no beach at all. We kept up our habit of cleaning up places wherever we go. Beach cleanup is the best. We organized a couple community cleanups and got a few other folks to join us. These guys joined us in a cleanup of the main road going into Coronado Beach. Together we picked up about 10 bags of trash. We met some soul mates in the first few minutes of being in Coronado. They were in the apartment next to us on the beach. They also had sold everything where they lived in Michigan and were just beginning their world travel journey with their pretty cat, Beauty. Charlotte loves to take pictures of patterns in nature. Mixture of beach sand colors. More sand art. Huge buddha in the backyard near the swimming pool. I counted 9 buddha statues in the back yard. This was the biggest one. This fellow, sitting on the edge of our pool is quite large. Yes, that’s us. We’re having a night out with some ex-pat friends (7 of them!) for dinner and an entertaining and sexy singer. Charlotte was looking for a place to get her hair colored and we came across this ‘saloon’. We at first thought it was a typo. Little did we know… The hair ‘saloon’ was out of champaigne, but the red wine was flowing. I wonder if the alcohol maybe cuts down on customer complaints and pickiness?
