Walking among a tribe of black monkeys on Nusa Bay wildlife preserve.
Here is a sample of the music at La Pacha Mama
We sat down to enjoy a cold drink and one of our favorite songs came on the old time radio.
I had never seen this before. These little parana like fishies eat away at your feet and supposedly your feet end up better for it.
After a long trek, we stopped at a small warung (restaurant) to have a drink and we were seated next to this peaceful lotus pond.
This is the experience you get when you enter one of our favorite restaurants in Ubud. La Pacha Mama. More of the interior here.
Monkeys doing breakfast.
Right next to the big commerce area of Ubud is this wonderful preserve for monkeys. It is very large. Here is one valley.
Ok. What do you think. Can this monkey figure out how to open this bottle?
At this time of day, you would normally hear lots of motorcycles and cars and trucks and all the jangle of urban sounds. But not today. Today is Nyepi. The island wide day of silence. Listen to the natural world loving it.
You sit down to order food and they put this in front of you. What?
This is Charlotte taking a picture of the Wooden Apartments where we stayed the first week in Ubud. But behind her is a rice field that is about to be prepared for planting.
This was a particularly difficult walk about. Up and down and lots of heat and humidity. Beautiful terraces.
Our first real outing in Ubud was to take this trek out to see some rice fields.
Nearly every day in every part of the island there is a celebration or ceremony going on. We missed the first part of this one as we didn’t know it was going to be happening until we heard the commotion out in the street.
Ubud is built where two great rivers come together. Here is the place.
These cute fellows were in the gift shop at the Ubud Bodyworks. Take a look at the waiting room area.
We traveled below Ubud to reach this waterfall.

Mara Edwards says she can’t get the song, Bali Hai from South Pacific out of her head now. Maybe it will work for you too!
