No. Not Belize. On the way to Belize. This is in London. For those who don’t know, Jamie Oliver is a famous natural food chef.
This is the Norwegian Air plane in which we flew across the Atlantic. This is an image of Harvey Milk. Famous gay supervisor of San Francisco who was assassinated.
Can you tell we are happy to see the first familiar faces we have seen in fifteen months. David Waugh is there carrying our luggage. Jane Waugh and Noelle Gray are about to be greeted.
We have made it all the way to the house we have rented right on the water on the small island of Caye Caulker.
This is the scene from our balcony outside our bedroom looking to the east.
The motto of Caye Caulker is “Go Slow”. None of the roads are paved and after a rain they have milky potholes that remind me of Jackson, Mississippi. It helps everyone to remember to “go slow”.
Nature patterns. Close up of a palm leaf near our house.
A whole big wall of conch shells. The builder of this wall thinks it is the biggest one in existence. It is just down the shore from our house.
Another view of that record breaking conch shell wall. (It does extend quite a distance more in both directions.
Oh. And that wall is for sale. The owner is quite creative in advertising the place.
Dead Brain coral.
Close up. Can you read it’s thoughts?
Charlotte with the Paulette Salo, owner of the Red Flower Gallery. She was a biochemist and spent years developing a non-toxic oil to help prevent and cure bites from sand flies. Otherwise known at no-see-ums or sand sharks.
This use to be a stop sign and now it is so much more.
Pretty flower right outside our door.
Crane.
Neighbors.
Feeding of the pelicans at sunset on the west side of the island.
Mr. Pelican.
This one must be particularly hungry.
Some lobster traps.
Does anyone know what the hell this is all about?
The Endorfin boat. Parked at the dock out from the Psyquatic sign.
Big crab along the path along the beach into the village.
Charlotte says this is a hermit crab. Burrows in someone else’s shell.
Another hermit crab.
Nice slogan on a tip jar. “Afraid of Change. Leave it here.”
Egret
Another crane.
Last night before our friends Jane and David Waugh head back to the states for a while. We are eating at Food Revolution.
This is the Sports Bar on Caye Caulker. Ex-pat’s congregate here every Friday evening. This is a Sunday. We are all watching the Superbowl. Our friend who owns a house here, David Waugh, calls those Friday events, “Church”.
Exploring the neighboring island, Ambergris Caye.
San Pedro again. They have paved streets here and they are full of golf carts. I saw one going about 50 mph.
The coral reef is pretty close at Ambergris Caye.
Black Bean Soup in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. (It was very good.) This island is about 40 minutes away by water taxi. It is bigger. We went there because it has an organic grocery store.
This scary beast wants you to believe it is just a piece of driftwood.
More neighbors. This rather large iguana is on a dead branch just a couple feet from our balcony.
This guy is going after some coconuts next to our house.
Light filtering into our bedroom. Beautiful woodwork on the ceilings and floors. All colorful hardwood. I can tell this is just before we do our morning meditations.
Sunrise from our balcony.
