Jackson MS A meditation class we lead at Fair Trade Green in Jackson, MS. We also had a workshop on becoming a World Citizen. Seeing old friends was a big part of our stay in Jackson. This is Jeanne and Steve Rozman. Dr. Robert Smith took us out for dinner and we had great conversations. Dr. Smith is a civil rights hero in Mississippi, he was the head of the medical team for the freedom riders. More than anyone, he is responsible for the creation and rise of community health centers in the United States. I would spend Saturday mornings with him, helping him get more organized on his computer. At Dr. Smith’s home. With Larry Fortenberry and Kay Patterson. I work remotely with them to get tax returns done. We’ve been doing this together for over twenty years now. With our friend, Travis Sledge. Travis is a skilled deep tissue massage person with additional skills in Eastern medicine and energy healing. He has particularly helped Charlotte a great deal. These are just a few of the 150 or so letters I wrote to seldom voting Democrats, urging them to vote in the mid-term election to be held November 6th. Earcine and Mark Evins. Friends from Rainbow Co-op. They have an organic farm and produce very good products. With Chris Carey. Chris not only took one of our cats, but he also assumed responsibility for Conscious Living Project, our non-profit. With Cody Cox who use to manage Cups but now is about ready to start his own business, “Urban Foxes”. He was a board member at Rainbow. Our Fair Trade Green store. We’re having a book sale just at that moment. 4 for $1. Sold about 400 books. Chris Carey and Nancy Mauldin visiting with us in the parking lot of Fair Trade Green. Bruce Frazier and his girlfriend, Andrea, came up from Florida and we got to spend time with them at the Library in the Fairview Bed and Breakfast. We stopped in at Canizaro, Cawthon, Davis Architects and got to see Steve Davis and Trisha Willis. Trisha was about to head back to Kenya. With Becky Potts at Walkers. Becky lives in Fondren and grows an amazing garden. A new friend who came from Minnesota and now works at Broadstreet Bakery. Another friend from Broadstreet Bakery. He always is very interested in how Rainbow Co-op is doing. Suzie Foote and Billy Browne at Broadstreet Bakery. John Evans (owner of Lemuria Books) and Billy Browne at Lemuria. Tina Fortenberry at the Library. Heading now to Ft. Lauderdale to catch a flight to Peru. Zipping along the interestate through the Florida panhandle we went across the path of hurricane Michael. Hard to tell from the picture but half the trees were snapped in half. This went on for 150 miles. Must be several million trees destroyed. Nearly all roofs were damaged. My mother made this quilt pillow and gave it to Charlotte as she needed a cushion to be taller when driving. But we can’t take it with us. In Ft. Lauderdale this housekeeper from, I think, Jamaica, was very kind to us. We gave her the pillow and she loved it. As we were walking to the nearby restaurant in Ft. Lauderdale, we came across this guy guarding his young family. I think it’s a type of Egyptian goose. Then a few steps further, we come across a nice sized iguana. Didn’t expect any of this.
